LUST LUST LUST!

Have you ever just found a shoe that maybe the first time you saw it, you didn't get it? Then, maybe the next time you saw it, you were like, "oh, damn. Where have you been all my life?"

Yeah, that's the lace up shoes by Ann Demuelemeester for me, 100%.

These are the Ann Ds as worn on the runway-

Don't they make sense now? Well, I've been lusting after them ever since I saw how versatile they can be as worn on on of my favorite fashion bloggers, Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes. She literally has these (some of which she may share with her mother-- I can't keep up with their gigantic collection of designer shoes. Superjeal.)in three different colors. I particularly have eyed her Ann Ds in the camel color-- they look so effortless with everything she wears. So of course, when I came across the above photo in a lovely grey suede on Free People's site, I almost lost it. These are not at all in my college budget, but I've gotta find a way to make it happen. Incredible aren't they?

By the way, I'm bout to head downstairs to my lovely friend Mary Helen's apartment for some outfit posts. :) Will get those up soon!

This incited lust in me: Phillip Lim and Christian Louboutin's Collaboration

If I had the money for a shit-kicking shoe collection, filled with everything from whimsical to dominatrix, these would most definitely be in! I always enjoy the aesthetic of Phillip Lim, he's edgy without being stuck in the architectural and he's always got a touch of whimsy. Louboutin, gosh, what more can be said about this designer. His shoes are the most recognized name brand shoes of the decade, and rightfully so. He creates beautiful and well-crafted pumps, and his couture shoes are always interesting, never over-the-top. I've had the chance to try on Loobs on many occasion and they always fit like a dream-- I'm determined to own at least a pair some day, they'll last me forever. This collaboration is just beautiful. I've been lusting all day. LOVE THIS COLLABORATION! I love the dark green pair. How amazing would that look with some brown and tan tweed knickers, a cream ruffle blouse and some burgundy suspenders? Don't forget the argyle knee-highs. Menswear heaven.

Just wanted to take a moment to explain why I'm doing this.

This blog is for me, above anything else. I'm not actively seeing promotional clothing or advertising. I am not trying to gain a following or even a mediocre level of notoriety. There are better bloggers with bigger fashion budgets than I who have already established a good bit of the market share. I am doing this because I am a fashion fiend trapped in a college student's wardrobe. I am getting ready to graduate in May and it is really important for me to better cultivate my personal style. This blog is more of a process... a journey if you will for me to really find what things make me happy, what inspires me. I saw an interview with Chloe Sevigny yesterday and she said something that I really agreed with. Fashion is really the culmination of art forms, because it is a direct reflection of what is going on in digital, print and music. It's an amalgamation of the culture. It has always fascinated me. I don't dress the way I do for anyone else but me. When others like my style or find me sexy or cool or attractive or inspiring, it makes me feel wonderful because I know I have earned that attention by doing things my way and dressing the way I want to dress. But I am also just fine without it. Just wanted to say that.

Wishlist: Warm-weather shoes

Aren't these adorable? I love the super-saturated orange-red color. I also love these in ivory and in grey. I like the idea of ankle wrap shoes, partially because the look is SO different, its definitely an unusual and eye-catching aesthetic, but I think the idea sounds practical and more supportive than a flimsy flip flop or a complicated gladiator (even though I loves me some gladiators). These are Deena and Ozzy brand from Urban Outfitters ($38.00) and they've received great reviews from customers. What do you think of this new look?

I think these would look great with anything- jeans, denim shorts, white linen pants (laugh all you want, but I think they are a chic summer staple. more on that later) or how about a cute gauze dress? PRESH!

What I want: Spring to Summer Romper Look

I was inspired by Xtina's romper post earlier. She posted a romper that I have had my eye on for two months now. I decided to polyvore myself a complete look for how I could wear it, seeing as how rompers are whimsical and playful and something very new to me and my wardrobe. The colors and the accessories chosen are very much my aesthetic. Earthy-trendy and ever-fabulous. What do you think?

Something I love

Jeggings. They have their place. I've been dying to try a pair for months now, especially the black denim jegging from Evans. One thing about my figure is that I often don't fit into plus size bottoms. I have thin legs and small hips/rear compared to my wait size, so most PLUS bottoms fit too wide in the hips and thighs to wear. I usually end up looking like I have deer haunches from the sagging fabric. I'm not a total apple shape, but I'm more apple than anything else. Anyway, I always have to approach plus-sized bottoms carefully. I ordered a size down (a UK20) from I thought I may be after I saw they had a promo for an extra 20% off. I was really pleased with the fit! They're a tad roomy through the hips and legs, but I wouldn't classify them as being too big. They just aren't skin tight, which is fine. The fabric is stretchy, but firm enough, and thicker than others I've tried (::cough::Faith21::cough). I love that they come up to the waist, cause let's face it, in today's clingy knits, our chubs look smoother in higher-waisted pants. Don't worry, they don't come too high in the rise (and I have an especially short torso, so I would bet on most of you, they would fit right below bellybutton) and the cut is still very modern.

Overall, I give the quality 4 out of 5 stars, and the fit 4 out of 5 stars.
Would be great for pear shapes, apples who size down and hourglasses who breathe (aka, all of you). Skip it if you're a strawberry or an orange or a banana... or a kumquat. Okay I'll stop.
